Informed Choice Named an Accepted Quality Certification Program by Amazon

Informed Choice - Amazon

Informed Choice has been named an accepted quality certification program by Amazon in the United States. Acceptance by Amazon helps simplify the new requirements of selling dietary supplements on the retail platform for Informed Choice certified brands and further supports Informed Choice’s mission of providing safer supplements.

As reported by NutritionalOutlook.com, Amazon recently updated their requirements for selling dietary supplements on the site in the US.  Supplement brands wishing to sell on Amazon must submit one of the following:

  • Certificate of Analysis (CoA) issued by an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory.
  • CoA issued by an in-house laboratory that is compliant with GMP standards, as evidenced by a third-party GMP audit.
  • Evidence of product enrollment in an accepted third-party certification program. (Informed Choice certification meets this requirement)

In addition, high-quality product images must be submitted. Possible consequences for not meeting the new Amazon requirements can lead to :

  • Removal of the relevant product listings
  • Suspend ability to add new products and/or listing privileges
  • Withhold any payments due
  • Pursue legal action

“Amazon naming Informed Choice as an accepted quality certification program is excellent news for supplement brands with products certified by our global quality assurance program,” says Paul Klinger, Business Development Director of the INFORMED brands. “According to Amazon’s guidelines, brands with a product certified by Informed Choice have already fulfilled two of the three requirements they must meet before selling supplements on the site. The Amazon acceptance gives Informed Choice certified brands the ease of reaching more customers and also expands the brand awareness of the Informed Choice program.”

Informed Choice is a global quality assurance program developed to help reduce the risk of impurities and banned substances entering sports nutrition products. All certified products are tested by LGC’s world-class anti-doping laboratories for over 250 banned substances in sport using ISO 17025 accredited methods. In order to become Informed Choice certified, products must undergo an extensive pre-certification and post-certification process to ensure the integrity of the products.
