Informed Choice Dietary Supplement Guide

Supplement Guide News

Informed Choice announced today the launch of its new Supplement Safety Guide. Developed for all supplement users, the Supplement Guide seeks to provide transparency within the supplement industry. With as many as one in ten dietary supplement products potentially containing a prohibited or harmful substance, educating supplement users is vital for their health and wellness goals.

Designed to educate, the Informed Choice Supplement Guide provides an overview of the legislation within the supplement industry. This includes what is defined as a dietary supplement, the requirements to manufacture supplements, and how countries have different laws regarding product labeling. The difference in legislation poses a real risk of confusion for active individuals around the globe.

The Guide also includes the severe health risks associated with ingesting a prohibited substance. While gym-goers and everyday supplement users are not subject to strict doping control, the health risks can be severe depending on the amount ingested and medication taken in conjunction with supplements.

An integral part of Informed Choice, and our family of certification programs, is to educate supplement users to promote informed decisions,” said Paul Klinger, Business Development Director of the INFORMED brands. “The Informed Choice Supplement Guide not only showcases our expertise but also why transparency is vital. Prohibited substances aren't just an issue for elite athletes, but pose a real risk to all users of supplements. With this Supplement Guide, supplement users can have a better understanding of what to look for in a quality dietary supplement.”

Also included in the Supplement Guide are survey findings, common routes of contamination, and how to reduce supplement risks. For more information, download the Informed Choice Supplement Guide
